Hammersley Fork School
By Lydia Hale

Here is a picture of the Hammersley Fork School. The school is actually still there but looks nothing like it. It is brown, has few windows and is used as a hunting camp.

The land the school is on was donated from my Great-Great Grandfather after the old school burnt down. My Grandfather and later an Aunt would start the fire for the school everyday. The kids went to school in the summer and not always in the winter. Another Aunt (my Great-Grandmother's sister-in-law) taught there and said exactly where me Grandmother sat in 4th grade.
